Songwriter Mark Paul first picked up the guitar at the age of 3, wrote his first song at 10, and joined his first punk band at 15.
This life in music has led him down roads he never envisioned…playing mandolin in a old-time string band, playing guitar again in a punk band at the age of 32, playing banjo in band that sings bawdy sea shanties, and at the age of 40, finally starting the band that bears his name to play his most personal songs.
All the while, it was the creation of new songs that has kept him going and passionate about what he does. Partnered with the revolving cast of collaborators that make up The Red Flags, he puts his life of playing music into perspective, boiling it down to the essential parts. The music exists outside of genre, and everything is done for the sake of the song.
We met Mark through social media, and traveled to the Detroit area to record his song, bringing some of our own folks, but also finding new friends in a new area that can help us grow our community. We thank Mark for this opportunity and hope you enjoy his song as much as we do.
