Kara has been part of the NoVa music scene for as long as she can remember. Stepping on the stage with her dad’s band at 18yo, she has been playing on local and regional stages ever since. She has been a worship leader for a majority of these years, and has served as the worship pastor in her home church in Arlington Va for the last 3 and a half years.
In 2013, she was invited to sing background vocals for 80’s icon Bret Michaels, and she has been singing and playing guitar for him intermittently through the years.
It was a couple of years into COVID, March 2021, when Kara notice swelling under her arm, and a few months later, found a lump in her breast. Diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, she started chemotherapy that summer. Surgery and radiation would follow in the spring of 2022.
She has since been healing and working harder than ever, leading worship, writing songs, playing solos and duos with her husband Matt Davis in the local music scene and joining Bret Michaels, on guitar and vocals, for the remainder of his 2022 tour.
It has been important to her to find more and more ways to advocate for women’s health and for those, especially in low income areas to find adequate testing and health care.
Her song ‘Irene’ is a tribute to her grandmother, who also had breast cancer.
