DeJuanna “Dee” Parker is a 63 year old wife, mother, and grandmother who is living with CML (a form of Leukemia). She spent her professional career in education, but music has always been in her soul.
Starting as early as junior high school, Dee has been performing for musical theatre and cabaret audiences alike. A highlight was when she was the lead female singer in a R & B band her husband, Mike, put together called Staxx. The band performed for local audiences in the Washington, DC and surrounding areas. Dee also recorded a song, Loveland, in the early 80s.
The family musical legacy continues with her youngest son, Michael (Mike) Parker, a rising Country star based in Nashville. She has even performed with Mike at a few local venues.
Dee spends most of her time in academic endeavors as a journal editor, and she started a business as a Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics, but her heart and soul will always be rooted in family and music.
