Daniel Valoff is an American songwriter, singer, and musician who draws inspiration from his life experiences, his passion for storytelling, and his love for musical genres spanning from new wave, to country, and just about everything in between.
From the time he was a child, Daniel knew he wanted to be a musician. He began playing guitar in elementary school, sang in Jazz Choir in High School, and was a Music Major in college where he studied voice, classical guitar, and music theory.
For over 33 years, Daniel has been publicly performing his own original music. He started off playing in small coffee shops when he was in high school, and worked his way up to performing in 2,000+ capacity venues, and even at a large music festival.
Daniel is currently battling stage 4 thyroid cancer. By the time he discovered the cancer, the tumor had already grown into his trachea, and also around a laryngeal nerve which controls a vocal cord. The doctors want to perform a surgery to remove the tumor, thyroid, a large section of the trachea, and possibly his voice box. They have told him that after the surgery, he’ll never be able to sing again. Daniel decided to postpone the surgery, and is currently using targeted therapy medications along with a host of holistic treatments in an attempt to shrink the tumor, and hopefully make the surgery less risky and damaging. He is also a strong believer in miracles, and is optimistic that he will get through this journey unscathed.
The song that Daniel chose to record was written shortly after he received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. It’s called “There’s Still A Light In The Sky”. Ultimately, it’s a song about hope. No matter how dark the night seems, if there’s a single light in the sky, you still have something to navigate your way with, and there’s still hope. For Daniel, that light has been his faith.
